My 1st 3-D Movie!

I went and saw my 1st 3-D movie this weekend: Transformers 3! I won 2 tickets to the theatre at my last Bunco night and so my husband and I decided to take the boys to a movie. We only go to the movies about twice a year so this is always a treat! We had to go all out so we bought 2 Fred & Ginger popcorn/drink packages and settled ourselves in the cold theatre on a day that reached 108 degrees F.
2 Hours and 45 minutes later the family walked out of the theatre. I liked 3-D (wasn't sure I would), but I'm pretty sure I don't want to watch movies that way all the time. I hope seeing it in 3D doesn't ruin it for us when we buy it in 2D.

It was a good movie, and the action sequences in space and in air is perfect for 3D. I still prefer the 1st Transformers movie, but I liked this one more than the 2nd. I preferred the original love interest over the one in this movie, but she's still a good actress though. My teenager ate 2 containers of popcorn (BY HIMSELF) and we had an enjoyable afternoon. We really need to do stuff as a family more often :-)

Baseball 2011

Baseball season 2011 is done...just in time for the 100+ degree weather! Both boys played ball this year, my Oldest played on a competitive team, trying to get him ready to try out for the High school team next spring. My Youngest played his 2nd year of T-ball, and his Dad was the Coach. He was a much better player this year and their team went pretty far in the end of season tournament. Congratulations Cobras!

My Oldest. He isn't a little boy anymore! :-(

T-ballers are the cutest!

The Coach isn't bad either! :-)

After the tournament comes the end of season party. I've seen the cutest cakes and cupcakes on different blog sites, so I thought I should try to make the cake for the party. It actually turned out Not Bad!

The cake display.

Baseball cupcakes.

Cobras!

Trophies!

The last team cheer!

We had the party at the local park where they have a free splash pad. The boys could stay cool, have cake and get their trophies with little problem. Glad it's over for this year...I will be ready for the new season come next March!

Summer Hibernation...

It's July in Oklahoma, so I've gone into my summer hibernation. Today's high is supposed to reach 106 F with an evening low of 80 F. This type of heat began in June, we set a record number of days at or above 100 F for the month. July hasn't had a day below that 100 mark, and the extended 10 day forecast doesn't have it changing anytime soon. Added to the high heat is no rain, and let my tell you it's miserable here!

I don't like heat...I was born up North and I prefer cold weather to the hot, so I usually hibernate in the summer instead of the winter. It helps that the kids don't have to go to school like they do in the winter so I am not forced out of the house everyday. I usually begin my summer hibernation in June, but having an extended baseball season and swim lessons and running my Oldest to his volunteer time at the library has pushed it back to July.

July is actually my least favorite month of the year...mostly because of the heat. My theory about the summer months is: June isn't so bad, I'm usually too busy to notice the heat; July is awful, because it's hot with no end in sight; and August (although hotter than July) is a relief, because I know the temperatures are going to peak and start falling toward...FALL (probably my favoritist season of all!)

Anyway...wherever you are I hope you're staying cool!
