Museum of Osteology

The Museum of Osteology or the Bone Museum as locals call it opened up in the area this last year and my husband and I have been planning on taking the boys. We finally loaded them up this weekend and took a tour of this 7ooo square foot facility.

My boys are growing up sooo quickly!
We love the giraffe...did you know it has 7 vertebrae bones...just like humans!

My Youngest was fascinated with these tribal objects...all made out of bone.

Had to get a picture of the penguin...my Oldest's best friend loves penguins so this one is for him!

See the one in the tree? That has to be one of my boys :-)

I was discussing evolution with my Oldest the other day so this display was nice since I could point out things I was trying to explain to him.

Who doesn't like an elephant skull?

Or the rhino? His horn is sooo cool!

And we can't forget the killer whale hanging from the ceiling...eye level from the upper gallery.

My husband is goofy! Shark teeth are awesome!

My boys have always been fascinated by the hippopotamus...they had to have a closer look at the chompers on this big boy. In fact my Husband and Oldest son were comparing jaw structures on several of the animals and discussing how that led to severity of the animals bite!

It was a great museum, it had a lot of bones! They also had them labeled well and discussed different aspects of bones throughout the museum. They even had it where you could view some skulls being stripped by bugs!

I like snow!

I actually like snow...maybe it's because I'm a winter baby (my birthday is this month :-) or maybe its the cleanness of it when it settles like a blanket over everything, or maybe it's the fact that spring is so much more enjoyable once you've had a blizzard or 2? Who knows...all I know is that I like snow!

I don't miss the cold! Snow and 60 degree weather works for me! This has been a weird winter here in the middle part of the country...yesterday the temperature soared up to 65 degrees! And it's been this way since Christmas...daytime highs in the high 40's-low 60's, and morning lows from 25-45 degrees.

I'm not complaining...I've enjoyed the more temperate climate, I just miss the snow, which might not come to our neck of the woods this year :-( or if it does it will be a late snow storm in February...our state is so weird! When you have temps in the 70's and snow flurries on the same forecast...

Hope you all are staying warm and dry. Have a great winter and remember spring is just around the corner!
