Back in June, we had a huge hailstorm...the last in a long line of them over the past year and a half. This one finally did enough damage that a new roof was required. So I broke down and made arrangements for a new one to be installed. It was finished on Sunday.

Well, the new roof looks better than the old one. It also suited your house better. I wonder if I should change my roof with a darker one. But then again, I might stick with my current roof a little longer. It still looks fine to me.
ReplyDeleteYour roof reminds me of our house back when I was living with my cousin. We used to play wrestling together and I always jumped from the roof like I was jumping from a top turnbuckle. We got in big trouble after they found out about it though.
ReplyDeleteYour new roof color is definitely an improvement! It gives the house a more modern look and feel. I’ve always preferred darker colored roofs. They really stand out, and make the house look contemporary and sophisticated.
ReplyDeleteRoof contractors should always be nice to their client. Congratulations on your successful roof installation! You made a good choice on choosing a darker shade. It looks more majestic than your previous roof! :)
DeleteThat hailstorm was a blessing in disguise, I tell you! Your house looks way better than before. I would have to agree with what you said that your house looked like it was worn out before you replaced the roofs. Maybe, it’s because the color of the roof doesn’t really complement well the walls. And, I can tell that your Ben did a fine job of replacing the roofs. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYou were fortunate enough to find a good contractor. The way you work with your contractor can affect the outcome of your re-roofing. If you’re going to hire a professional to change your roofs, make sure that he has extensive experience in his line of work. You can’t trust these kinds of jobs to novices. You can also ask them for advice on how to inspect your roof. Let them also teach you methods on how to fix minor problems such as leaks. Finally, they must be able to respond to your call when you encounter a problem.
ReplyDeleteThat darker shade of the roof is better for that type of house. It’s also good that you’ve got a reliable roofing contractor to do the job. In almost all home projects, the people who do the job can make or break the project. Good thing you were able to get capable and reliable hands for the replacement of your roof. How were you able to find and contact him?
ReplyDeleteIt’s been a whole year since your roof was put up, and we’ve had some crazy weather since then! I hope your roof has been able to handle it all! I prefer the darker-colored roofs as well, since they bring a more modern feel to the façade of the house.
ReplyDeleteDesign-wise, what I like about the new roof is that it’s contrast to the sidings. Before the roof was replaced, your house looked really plain. Functionality-wise, I have a little concern. From the looks of it, those are wood shingles. I hope the wood is made from cedar because it can protect your house from hail storms, especially if it’s common in your area. Well, I’m still happy that you were able to get a new roof and didn’t have any problems with your contractor.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Son’s right! How’s the roof doing now? I hope you didn’t find leaks or hidden problems after it was installed. And did you hire Ben to conduct regular maintenance? Since he’s the one who installed the roof, it’s only right for him to be the one to check on it. That’ll make things easier because he already knows the layout of the roof, and you have a good working relationship with him. Keep us posted!
